Starting with the Winter 2017 issue, every issue will now contain NONFICTION subs in addition to Fiction and Poetry!
We're looking for essays and creative nonfiction that embody the Midwest—good, bad or ugly—pieces that represent the people or places here, your own experiences, things you’ve seen or witnessed—all in the name of helping to catalog the region in a way never done before.
Please read all details below before submitting:
—Please do not submit multiple pieces: We’re looking for a single submission per person.
—Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please let us know if your piece was accepted elsewhere as soon as you can.
—Word Limit: 8,000 words
—Please also include a short, third-person bio of 150 words or less.
—If submitting a previously-published piece, please let us know where it first appeared, and that you do indeed have permission to submit elsewhere.
—Please only submit as Word (.doc/.docx) or RTF (.rtf) files
. Prose should be double spaced and in 12-point font (easier for us to read that way).
—Include contact info (email and/or phone) with your submission (make sure it’s easy for us to find). You can send a cover letter if you want, but it’s not required.
